Don't Let Me Fall

Back again with another story about our daughter. Let’s be real - kids are the best teachers.

One morning this week before coming down for school, Kennedy ran back in her room for one more thing. We usually walk down together, and I was truly in a rush thinking of all the things I needed to do before we left the house.

However, I quickly noticed she had socks on, and her walking down the stairs in socks is a recipe for disaster. So I waited.

When she emerged from her room, she locked eyes with me and she said, “Mommy, don’t let me fall.” She kept her eyes on me, smiled with gratitude for me waiting, and recalled the time when she fell “last year.” And I held her hand and reminded her I would never let her slip and fall.

And the Holy Spirit immediately brought this scripture to mind…

“Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” - Psalm‬ ‭55‬:‭22‬ ‭(NLT)‬‬

I pictured myself locking eyes with my Savior, walking in step with him, and in faith - begging, please don’t let me fall.

But what encouraged me more than anything was the confidence, the boldness, the single-minded focus that Kennedy had as she trusted in me. She knew I would be there. She knew I would sustain her.

Even when she brought up a memory from the past, she gripped my hand and we walked step by step together.

It ended up being a full week for us. Many close to us have experienced some real tragedy and heartbreak.

I met a woman at the doctor’s office this week who has been diagnosed with breast cancer for the third time. I simply don’t understand.

We all experience our own worries, fears, and anxieties. But God’s Word says to cast, give and surrender it all to Him. He will take care of you!

Let that be a breath prayer: He will never allow the godly to slip and fall.

He won’t let you fall through the cracks, nor has He forgotten about you. The God of abundance wants to meet you today and lift your soul.

And in a small moment this week, trying to rush down the steps, the Holy Spirit stopped me right where I was, brought truth to my mind, and refreshed my heart and soul.

  • Recipe: The Easiest Pumpkin Bread - The boys won’t touch it, but us girls are crushing this.

Until next time,

No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, blessed is the one who trusts in you!” — Psalm 84:11-12 (ESV) When we live as a son or daughter, we walk in a way that is confident and faithful, placing our trust in the One who holds it all. Today, I want to share about having an abundance mentality and identifying the...

All From Abundance - Vol. #009 The Truest Thing About Me I finished a great book this summer on the body - how to view our bodies with a Kingdom mindset, and how God views our bodies as made in His image. This quote has been wrecking me: “The truest thing about me, the most valuable aspect of myself that I bring into every situation and relationship is that God loves me, calls me His friend, and has made me His ambassador.” - Jess Connolly, Breaking Free from Body Shame This is so contrary to...

All From Abundance - Vol. #008 The Time We Have Left A few weeks ago, we took one final family trip to Wrightsville Beach to cap off our summer. We were sitting in a long line of traffic waiting to leave the island after a day packed full of all our favorite things. As we often do, we had Forest Frank blaring through the speakers - soaking in the perfect moment inside a perfect setting. I looked in the rear view mirror and watched as our son and daughter sang along together to his new single...
